ChildCARE Plus in Bangladesh

ChildCARE Plus in Bangladesh

The ChildCARE Plus program in Bangladesh began in July 2010, and has a current enrollment of approximately 40 children.  There is great need in this area as most of the families are very vulnerable living from hand to mouth. Many men are daily labourers and very few women work outside the home. Very few of the children in these families have the opportunity to attend school if it were not for ChildCARE Plus child sponsorship.

Water Programs in Bangladesh

Community Development: Water programs

Bangladesh is one of the poorest most densely populated countries in the world. One of the most critical areas of need is clean water. In partnership with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Bangladesh (PAOB), we are working to address this need. Many areas are still in need of clean water. Each tube well provides fresh drinking water to 20 – 25 families every day.

PAOB has identified the need for 159 tube wells in Northern Bangladesh. These wells will be installed on church grounds, at primary schools and in the centre of communities where there is no other clean water source. Since 2010, through the generous support of the Life Campaign and other donors, ERDO has drilled 119 wells in Bangladesh. Leaving 40 tube wells in need of funding.

Prior Assistance in Bangladesh

Crisis Response in Bangladesh

In 2011, ERDO operated two crisis response programs in Bangladesh.  In early 2011 an unseasonable coldwave struck the country in the North.  ERDO provided blankets and food.

Later in the same year, extreme flooding hit Bangladesh and made access to food difficult if not impossible for some people.  ERDO responded with food aid packets.

In times of emergency, relief supplies can include things like:

  • locally accessed and appropriate food relief
  • child safety
  • water
  • shelter
  • sanitation
  • household needs
  • livelihood protection

In 2013 ERDO responded to the needs as a result of the Rana plaza collapse.
