ChildCARE Plus in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of ERDO's largest child sponsorship program countries with over 950 children sponsored.  A PAOC Global Worker, Val Rutten, oversees the program and the in country staff that assist in the running of 22 CCP locations in Ethiopia.

Through a $37 a month donation, a child can attend school, have access to nutritious food and healthcare and be spiritually nurtured by our on-the-ground ChildCARE Plus community representatives.

Crisis Response in Ethiopia

Through PAOC Global workers in Ethiopia, ERDO is helping in two zones of the Oromia region after Ethiopia was hit the hardest when a major “El Nino” weather pattern moved in across Africa. To help some of the most vulnerable, we are providing a corn and soya blend of nutritional food for malnourished children, pregnant and nursing mothers.

Crisis Response

ERDO began as a result of the massive famine that devastated Ethiopia in the early 1980's.

ERDO worked with partners in Ethiopia to help meet the needs of families affected by the drought in the Horn of Africa in 2011.

 Food Assistance

In response to ongoing hardship caused by drought conditions in 2011 ERDO in partnership with CRWRC has extended its general distribution of monthly food packets.

Working with partner agencies and Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), ERDO operated food assistance programs through a "Food for Work" program.  ERDO also partnered with World Relief Canada and provided water conservation programs to assist in the production of food.  These 2009 programs reached over 10,000 beneficiaries.
