Community Development - Water

With thanks to the Life campaign supported by Canadian youth, two borewells were created in 2011 to deliver fresh clean water to children attending community schools.  Over 2,000 individuals are now benefitting from access to clean water.

ERDO Crisis response in Guatemala

Crisis Response in Guatemala

ERDO has helped Guatemalans recover from various natural disasters including flooding in 2011, and both volcanic eruptions and Hurricane Agatha in 2010.

During the flood of 2011, 3,500 people were homeless, 18 schools were flooded, 40 schools were damaged and 15 lives were lost. We were so grateful for our partners, Ruth and Hector Aragon and for their quick response in working to deliver aid through church volunteers like the pastor at left. Through generous donors, packets containing food, water, toilet paper, blankets and clothing were distributed.

In times of emergency, relief supplies can include things like:

  • locally accessed and appropriate food relief
  • child safety
  • water
  • shelter
  • sanitation
  • household needs
  • livelihood protection
