Michel and Louise Charbonneau, PAOC Global Workers in Haiti, lead a church, prison ministry, feeding program, clinic and child sponsorship program. The feeding program has taken place for 14 years, feeding children in the desperately poor area surrounding their church.
The children are divided into teams with colours of red and yellow. Older children lead each table and serve them. As well as receiving a good meal the meals are fun, with lots of laughter and music. This is often the highlight of the children’s week.
Did you know?
How many meals are the children receiving?
The children are fed twice a week. On Fridays, we feed about 1,000 children and on Sundays, about 1,500. On Sundays, we serve a breakfast to the youth (400 people) and a hot meal to the children (1,100).
What do they eat?
We serve them two different meals, either rice and beans and meat with a vegetable sauce or rice and meat with a bean sauce. The youth breakfast is composed of bread with peanut butter and coffee.
How many children are being fed?
Every Friday 1,100 children are fed and every Sunday 1,500 children are fed.
Where is the feeding program?
The feeding program is at the ministry centre in Port-au-Prince.
