ChildCARE Plus in Uganda

Over 100 children are currently enrolled in our ChildCARE Plus child sponsorship program.  Our main program partner in Uganda is the Pentecostal Assemblies of God - Uganda, under the leadership of Bishop Simon Peter Emiau.

Through a $37 a month donation, a child can attend school, have access to nutritious food and healthcare and be spiritually nurtured by our on-the-ground ChildCARE Plus community representatives.

Crisis Response in Uganda

Though there are no active crisis response activities taking place in Uganda, ERDO assisted victims of extreme flooding in 2007, and provided additional supplies of tarpaulins, mosquito nets and blankets.  25,000 people were assisted through this crisis response effort.

In times of emergency, relief supplies can include things like:

  • locally accessed and appropriate food relief
  • child safety
  • water
  • shelter
  • sanitation
  • household needs
  • livelihood protection

ERDO food assistance programs

Food Assistance

Over the past five years, ERDO has assisted Ugandans through emergency food supplies or programs that address the longer-term food needs of communities.  In 2007, 50,000 people were assisted with emergency food by ERDO partnering with the CRWRC, MCC and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

As much as emergency food aid is required in times of crisis, food self-sustainability is always the most desired outcome.  To help families grow and harvest their own foods to increase their nutritional intake and income generation, ERDO has provided things like seeds, tools, and knowledge through our support of local partners and local farmers.
