Zimbabwe is suffering from a food crisis due to wide-spread droughts and failed harvests. Erratic rainfall patterns and severe drought conditions across Southern Africa, especially with strong El Nino weather patterns in 2015-2016, have caused a food insecurity crisis across much of the country.
Many farmer’s crops have been lost, and what staple food items are available have significantly increased in price making them unavailable to families living in poverty. Female and child-headed households are particularly vulnerable.
Working with a local partner, ERDO addressed the acute food shortages and established food access for families at risk. These packages included sugar, beans, cooking oil, and maize meal. This project was completed in April 2016
