At Hope City, we believe the Church is called to care for children, strengthen families, and share the love of Jesus in practical ways. That’s why we are so excited to partner with ERDO’s ChildCARE Plus sponsorship program in three incredible communities in Thailand, Cambodia and Guatemala.

Child sponsorship is one of the most meaningful ways to make a lasting impact in a child’s life. Through sponsorship, children receive support for education, practical care for their families, connection to a loving church community and opportunities to hear the Gospel message. Sponsorship helps break the cycle of poverty while reminding children that they are deeply loved by God and valued by His people.

Thailand

ERDO’s ChildCARE Plus program in Thailand is led in partnership with PAOC global workers Matthew and Amber Price alongside a strong national team of Thai leaders. The program currently operates in 20 communities across the country, serving children in mountainous, rural, urban and remote regions. Many families survive through farming rice, sugar cane or vegetables, but unpredictable droughts and flooding often make it difficult to earn a stable income. Others work in factories, markets or have labour jobs, yet poverty continues to affect many vulnerable families, especially ethnic minorities, migrants and refugees.

Through ChildCARE Plus, children are given practical support that helps open doors to a brighter future. Sponsorship provides school uniforms, books, school supplies, transportation and food assistance for families. The program focuses strongly on education because it is one of the most effective ways to help children break free from poverty. Children also participate in Bible studies and summer camps where they learn about God’s love and discover the unique purpose He has for their lives. Through the local church, children and families are receiving both practical care and spiritual hope.

Cambodia

ERDO’s ChildCARE Plus program in Cambodia is led by PAOC global workers Ian and Tiffanie Rowley together with a dedicated Cambodian leadership team. The program serves children in 15 partner villages located both in Phnom Penh and in rural communities throughout the country. Cambodia continues to recover from the devastating effects of the Khmer Rouge genocide, and many families still face deep poverty and hardship. With much of the population living on very limited income, children are often vulnerable to exploitation and are sometimes forced to leave school early to help support their families.

ChildCARE Plus is helping change that story by giving children access to education, practical support and spiritual care. Sponsorship provides school uniforms, books, school supplies, medical and dental care, food assistance and opportunities to attend summer camp. Through partnerships with local churches, communities also benefit from programs focused on clean water, literacy, income generation, women’s health and community development. Most importantly, children are introduced to the love of Jesus and encouraged to believe that God has a purpose and future for their lives.

Guatemala

ERDO’s ChildCARE Plus program in Guatemala is overseen by PAOC global workers Hector and Ruth Aragon and operates in 15 communities throughout the country. Guatemala faces significant challenges related to poverty, violence and inequality. While some areas experience wealth and tourism growth, many families live in overcrowded communities struggling with gangs, drugs and limited access to basic necessities. Children are often forced to miss school or work to help support their families, leaving many vulnerable to abuse and hopelessness.

Through ChildCARE Plus, children receive the support they need to build a better future. Sponsorship helps provide school uniforms, books, supplies, medical and dental care and occasional food support for families. The program works closely with local churches and schools to ensure children not only receive an education but also hear about the love of Christ. Children also enjoy special opportunities such as school trips and annual Christmas celebrations that remind them they are cared for and valued. Through sponsorship, children are gaining hope, encouragement, and the opportunity to dream beyond their current circumstances.
