Mission of Mercy Canada

Continuing a Legacy of Hope in India

We are so pleased to announce that Mission of Mercy is now officially part of ERDO!

For over 70 years, Mission of Mercy Canada has faithfully served vulnerable children, women, families and communities throughout India. Through the generosity and prayers of supporters, lives have been transformed, children have been protected, families have found hope and communities have gained access to opportunities that help them thrive.

Today, ERDO is honoured to continue the legacy.

The same projects Mission of Mercy Canada supporters poured their love into will continue! Working alongside trusted partners in India, ERDO will commit to serving children, women, families and communities with the same heart and vision that guided the Mission of Mercy ministry for decades.

Thank you for joining us as we build upon this strong foundation and continue to bring hope, dignity and practical care to those who need it most.

Continuing Projects

Child Sponsorship

Across India, children face extreme vulnerability due to poverty, exploitation, trafficking, abuse and the lack of access to education. Through child sponsorship, you can bring faith-based education, school uniforms and supplies, arts and music programs, nutritious food and social development to children. Sponsorship changes lives!

Rescue A Child

Approximately 1.2 million children in India are ensnared in human trafficking as child prostitutes. They are forgotten children, caught in the cycle of poverty, vulnerable to living in dangerous red light districts and are often impacted by HIV/AIDS. These children have no love, care, attention or protection.

Our partner runs a home to rescue girls from the largest red-light district in Kolkata. This outreach provides a safe and loving place where young girls who are at high risk for sexual abuse can find refuge. The home provides for these girls’ physical, mental, social, emotion and spiritual needs. The girls receive medical care through local doctors and counselling from trained live-in staff. Today, you can help a young girl find hope, belonging and discover their immeasurable value in Christ.

Rescue Women

Women who are already victims of exploitation and abuse are unable to protect themselves or their children. Many of these women were forced into sexual exploitation from the time they were little children. Our partner in India offers women rescued from years of sexual slavery a new life. Here, our partners provide economic rehabilitation to train women in vocational skills to empower them to support themselves and their families.

Clean Water: A Gift of Life

India faces severe water challenges, leaving an estimated 163 million people without safe drinking water. Instead, families are forced to drink E. coli infected surface water, or take their chances at a local well contaminated by arsenic and uranium.

Since 2016, Mission of Mercy Canada has installed 91 safe, clean water wells in villages in North East India. ERDO is committed to continuing this project, bringing safe drinking water to families in desperate need.

Capital Projects: Community Halls

Mission of Mercy Canada had a vision to build Community Halls in small villages where worship services could be held, the abused and neglected could be protected, and training sessions would be available to empower families for vocational stability.

The Community Hall project focuses on purchasing plots of land and hiring local workers to build each centre, creating community meeting places. If you have a heart to see communities come together and work toward sustainability and long-term healing, support this Capital Project!

Pioneer Workers Project

In Northeast India, it is very difficult for pastors to give their lives to full-time ministry without having another means of financial support. Mission of Mercy’s Pioneer Pastors program covered the living expenses of these pastors and their families so they could dedicate themselves to their communities.

This project is now becoming the Pioneer Workers Project, reflecting a more community-centred approach to ministry and development work. Support will go toward strengthening ministry programs in the community—programs the pastors will help lead and shape. This ensures pastors remain central to the work and continue to benefit from the stability and resources these programs provide as they carry out their ministry.

Women’s Literacy

Women in India have few opportunities for education, vocation and empowerment. This project, giving through two Literacy Centres, teaches women basic math, reading, writing and vocational skills training. Each women has the opportunity to be educated, fed and taught that they are valued. In places where women believe they have no purpose, no ability to learn, grow or care for themselves, this project is transforming women’s lives.

Give Today

Children’s Literacy Centres

Through four children’s literacy projects running across Northeast India, children are being empowered to learn and grow. Each child is given a general education through the centre and are also provided with a daily meal as they gather together for their schooling. In these areas food is scarce, and this meal is a lifeline for children. You can empower children to receive an education today through a Literacy Centre.
