Agriculture Projects

Many small-scale farmers and their families suffer from hunger each year.  About half of these farmers are women, who have additional barriers including owning land, accessing education or receiving financial assistance. Working with these farmers directly is one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and hunger.

ERDO’s agriculture projects teach farming skills like conservation agriculture. Conservation agriculture is a sustainable form of farming that helps preserve the quality of the soil through soil cover and crop diversification. We work with farmers depending on the country and context, to help them grow food appropriate to their area and space availability.

Together, we can empower family farmers to increase their crop production, resist climate change and recover from emergencies, like famine, drought or natural disaster.

In Canada, farmers have a unique way to join in supporting food and agriculture programs overseas. Click here to learn about Cultivate ERDO.
