Mary is a happy young girl who lives with her parents in a home with no running water or electricity, in a small village outside of Lilongwe, Malawi. Mary has cerebral palsy and relies on her mother for most daily tasks, as she cannot do many tasks on her own. Although her parents do their best to provide for her needs, their income is unstable and insufficient to provide for the family’s needs. Life is an ongoing struggle for Mary and her family.
Education for children with specialized needs is a great privilege in Malawi, as most schools do not have the resources to accommodate them. Mary enjoys stretching classes, and in her free time, she likes listening to music. Her favourite colour is yellow and she hopes to be a nurse one day.
