Sandhya is a friendly young girl who lives with her parents and brother in a small rented home in Kolkata, India. Sandhya’s father works hard as a cleaner, but he is unable to earn enough money to meet the basic needs of his family. Life is an ongoing struggle for Sandhya and her family.
For many impoverished families like Sandhya’s, education is not prioritized and children are often expected to help earn money for their families. Through ChildCARE Plus sponsorship, however, Sandhya will be able to attend school and receive a quality education. Sandhya enjoys learning Hindi, and she likes to dance with her friends. Sandhya hopes to become a doctor one day. Her favourite Bible story is about David and Goliath and orange is her favourite colour.
