Ujjawal is a smart young boy who lives with his parents and brother in Kolkata, India. Ujjawal and his family live in a small rented home with no running water. Ujjawal’s mother takes care of the home and his father works hard in a plastic factory. Sadly, he is unable to earn enough money to meet the basic needs of the family. Life is an ongoing struggle for Ujjawal and his family.
For many impoverished families like Ujjawal’s, education is not prioritized and children are often expected to help earn money. Through ChildCARE Plus sponsorship, however, Ujjawal will be able to continue his schooling and receive a quality education. Ujjawal enjoys learning Hindi. He likes colouring and playing football with his friends. Ujjawal’s favourite Bible story is about Jonah and the fish, and his favourite colour is green.
