Yemen Triple Nexus

Life in Yemen is not easy for families after more than ten years of civil war. Conflict keeps children in a fragile state and they often go to bed hungry and scared.

Violence has led to the destruction of infrastructure and there are no social supports for people in need. A weak economy and high unemployment keep families struggling. With very little food available, parents are struggling to feed their children and are trying to survive on a daily basis.

19.5 million people in Yemen need humanitarian assistance now.

ERDO has been working with an incredible local organization to provide emergency food to vulnerable families. We need your help now to feed children and adults as we cannot ignore the suffering of families during this growing crisis

You can help us raise $100,000 to feed 16,250 people for the next six months, and do so much more to create lasting change in Yemen. Plus, every dollar your donate today will be matched four times! This means your donation of $100 becomes $500 and $1,000 becomes $5,000 for people in need in Yemen.

How You Can Help

Our goal in Yemen is to provide for emergency needs. First of all, families need food now to survive. At the start of the year, ReliefWeb released a statement from 59 organizations working in Yemen, declaring that the number of people in need of humanitarian aid will rise by 1.5 million this year. 77% of those people are vulnerable women and children.

Our partners are bringing an emergency food basket to the most vulnerable families each month for the next six months. These baskets will provide adequate nutrition for the whole family for an entire month.

But, our work in Yemen doesn’t stop there. Next, our goals is to help these families become more resilient in the face of this growing crisis. We want to build harmonious, strong communities in areas impacted by conflict and division. Through a Triple Nexus approach, combining humanitarian aid, development projects and peace-building initiatives, we hope to build long-lasting change alongside families.

In a country where family members have fought on opposite sides of a civil war for over a decade, we are working to increase trust, inclusion, participation for all families and tolerance between neighbours.

The Triple Nexus Approach

1. Emergency Food

First, we’re providing for the urgent needs of families by bringing emergency food to homes for 6 months. This will ensure people in desperate situations will have enough food to survive.

2. Community Projects

Next, we’ll create jobs by employing people to start projects that will benefit everyone in the community, like repairing wells, roads, schools and community bathrooms, using solar energy and starting kitchen gardens.

3. Peacebuilding

Finally, we will provide families with classes where they can process their trauma, learn conflict-resolution skills and engage in peacebuilding projects to create a greater sense of community.

Support Yemen

Working together, we can not only address the immediate and urgent needs of children and families in Yemen today, but work toward a more peaceful tomorrow.

We will be providing 16,250 people with emergency food, community building projects and peacebuilding projects over the next six months. To build hope for tomorrow, our goal to raise a total of $100,000 that will provide this food and other community building and peacemaking initiatives.

Through an incredible matched funding opportunity, each dollar donated is matched an additional four dollars! That means a donation of $100 is now a $500 donation, and a $1,000 donation is $5,000 in food and longer-term programs.
